What does accident and illness insurance cover?
It can help with eligible vet bills for accidents and new illnesses, including related tests, surgery and hospital care. Waiting periods, exclusions and annual limits apply. Home prescription medication is an optional add-on.
Are pre-existing conditions covered?
Pre-existing conditions are excluded. If your pet has an existing health issue, Odie may offer accident-only coverage. You can review the available plan and its exclusions with your quote.
Can I keep my current vet?
Yes. You can visit any licensed vet in the U.S. You pay the clinic directly, then submit a claim to Odie for eligible expenses.
How do I submit a claim?
After purchasing a policy, use Odie’s member portal to submit your vet bill. Odie reviews the claim and reimburses eligible expenses according to your plan, deductible and reimbursement rate.
Choosing your plan
Can I adjust my coverage before buying?
With accident and illness coverage, you can choose from the available annual limits, deductibles and reimbursement rates while reviewing your quote. Accident-only plans use limits set by Odie. Changes after purchase are subject to Odie’s policy rules.
When does coverage begin?
Waiting periods apply before coverage begins. Accidents, illnesses and certain knee conditions have different waiting periods. Review the dates shown with your quote and policy.
Is routine care included?
Routine care is separate from accident and illness coverage. An optional wellness add-on provides set benefits for eligible services such as annual exams and vaccinations. Each service has its own benefit limit.
Who provides the insurance?
Huklberry presents your quote and coverage options. Odie manages the policy, claims and member portal. Underwriting is provided by Trisura or Accredited, depending on your state. Huklberry does not underwrite or pay claims.
